Gas Water Heaters
Having hot water in your home is essential to your daily routine. Whether you’re cleaning off after a long day or boiling water to use for cooking, heated water is a necessity. The Chapel Hill plumbers at Progressive Service Company are trained in installing and maintaining gas water heaters in your Chapel Hill residence.
Why Gas Water Heaters?
First off, what are gas water heaters and why do we need them?
Water heaters can come in many different makes and models, such as electric, gas or hybrid water heaters. Gas water heaters use a burner to heat and can range in size from holding 30 to 100 gallons of water.
Triangle homeowners favor these kinds of heaters because they tend to be more energy efficient than electric water heaters. What does this mean? Lower costs on your monthly energy bill. Many of our tanks are Energy Star® certified, meaning they reduce greenhouse gas emissions and are generally better for the environment.
Benefits of A Gas Water Heater:
- Cost-Effective. Heaters powered by natural gas end up costing homeowners less on their energy bill because natural gas is one of the least expensive sources of electricity in North America.
- Quick To Recover. More times than not, gas water heaters reach high temperatures after heavy use faster than other water heaters.
- Easy On The Environment. A clean-burning fossil fuel, natural gas is a powerful and eco-friendly energy option.
Typical tank gas heaters have three different venting options:
- Direct Vent
- Power Vent
They are made to fit almost any space, and our experts plumbers will properly install your tank, the first time around. Don’t know what kind of vent you need? We do, and we’ll assist you every step of the way.

From my first call to Progressive’s office, my conversation with the electrical manager, through the end of the job when all was done, Progressive did a great job for me. They were very professional, friendly, and flexible. The work was to relocate receptacles and switches from a wall that was being removed from our house, and also to add receptacles to another room. They sent two men who had to spend several hours both under and in our house. I recommend them highly and will use them again.

Brian performed maintenance check on the HVAC (I hope I used the correct term). His visit was just a few days we experienced unusually cold weather in mid-October. He was very helpful by providing answers to my questions. He also explained things that I was not aware of. I did not like the programmable thermostat and he replaced it with a simple thermostat which I understood much better than the programmable. I now feel much more comfortable after he inspected the system.

I had Progressive install a new tankless water heater. The technicians name was Larry and his helpers name was martin. They were both very polite and their work looks very neat. We are very happy with our new tankless heater.

We have had our HVAC replaced by this company and have a current service contract and loved them.Darryl who worked with us was great. The greatest part of the company though is how attentive, helpful, and responsible Kat was! She was constantly available and providing any assistance we needed.
